5 tips for our dogs in the Summer
Summer is a season of vacations and to be outdoors but the son and heat can be too much for us and for our four-legged friend.
We share some practical and valid advice for your four-legged friend but also for you!
1. Enjoy the walks, but even better if they are in the shade and without effort.
Try not to expose your dog to direct sunlight. When walking them try to choose the coolest hours and paths with shade to avoid straining. Remember that the pavement can reach up to 55°C in particularly hot days.
2. Always fresh water
We all need more water in the Summer, even your furry friends. Change their water container frequently so it is always fresh and when you go out, bring a very well stocked cooler. In the market there are also foldable travel feeders for dogs which are very practical and do not take that much space to give your dogs water wherever you are.
3. Do not force food
In the Summer, the dogs may have less appetite, sometimes because digestion is more complex. Do not force them to eat and try to given them their meals in the mornings and at nights when it is cooler.
4. In the car, yes, but with caution
If you are travelling by car with your dog remember to vent the cabin and if you have to make a stop, bring the dog with you: the heat that accumulates in the car can be very dangerous for your pets.
In Italy, whoever leaves their dog alone in the car can be fined with up to 10,000 euros due to animal abandonment crimes (article 727 of the Criminal Code).
If you see a dog alone in a car, the best thing to do is to call the police and ask for help.
5. Everybody to the beach!
For some dogs the beach is very fun and many water establishments are pet friendly, equipped for the wellbeing of your pups. In any case, it is better to maintain them in the shade, far away from the UVA rays.
Also, the sand and the salt can create annoying irritations so, it is advisable to rinse the dog with fresh water.
Warm season has arrived, let’s enjoy it along with our furry friends and take many photos of our finest moments and create a collage of images for us to keep as a wonderful Summer memory.
