Recipe to make ice cream and popsicles for dogs

Every time we unwrap an ice cream, our furry friends get intrigued!

The temptation of letting them try it is strong, but the industrial contents are a lot of times not good for pets to eat due to the fact they may contain chocolate, sugar, preservatives and artificial colorants, and especially lactose of which many dogs are allergic to or have intolerance.

In recent years, some companies have offered special ice cream for dogs, free of any toxic ingredient for them, but there are also home-made versions to prepare excellent ice creams you can also taste, if your pup allows you to!

But before, some pointers:

- The ice cream/popsicle must be a refreshing delicacy to be consumed from time to time, it does not replace food.

- For the preparation, use plant-based yogurt, like soy yogurt.

- You can use the classical popsicles molds, shot glasses or ice cube molds. Also recycle ice cream containers to put the preparation in the freezer so it solidifies.

- Dogs can eat fruit like strawberry and berries in general, pears, kiwis, peaches, apricots, melon, bananas and watermelon, obviously without seeds and pits.

- With moderation they can consume coconut, pineapple and apples.

- Harmful fruit and therefore absolutely prohibited are: nuts, avocado, grapes and raisins.

And now, let’s go the kitchen …

Fruit Ice Cream

Shred or mix 200 grs of fruit and add 4 jars of yogurt; put the mix in the freezer in a recycled container and mix occasionally. It will be fun to offer your dog ice cream in a ball shape and in a bowl just like yours.

You can use the fruit that your four-legged likes the most, even mixing different ones.

Fruit popsicles

Place the shredded fruit in popsicle molds and cover with water.

Alternatively, blend the fruit and dilute the mixture with water, place them in molds and leave in the freezer overnight.

Fruit juice popsicles

A fast way to make popsicles is to freeze fruit or veggie juice, like apple juice or carrot juice made at home with a juicer or juice extractor. If by the contrary, you choose packaged products, verify they are free of additives and added sugar. Pour the liquid in the molds and place in the freezer.

Carrot and pea popsicles

Not only sweet, you can also prepare a veggie popsicle for dogs: chopped carrots and fresh peas. Pour them in a popsicle mold, fill with water and leave in the freezer.

Veggie popsicles

Another idea to rapidly obtain popsicles for dogs is to prepare a veggie or meat broth, avoiding garlic and onion. Let the broth cool down and then freeze it in portions.

Surely your dogs will like their ice cream very much and surely you have prepared something delicious, but mostly healthy.

Create a special bond with your dogs and wear your white stone with a claw bracelet, it goes with all kinds of outfits, especially in the summer!
